Learning without “Screen”
Children’s (over)use of digital screens is very much in focus; Although the computer is an unavoidable part of a child’s world, there are warnings about side effects when the use of it is excessive, especially when it comes to children.
Playing and learning with Qecho is without use of screen, the main component is the built-in sound box.
Parents Setup Learning Content in Qecho
The parents choose what Qecho should contain of learning material suitable for their child and update it any time as they like – parents controls the content. The child can then play and click on various buttons on Qecho, which will play the sounds only selected by parents. Qecho supports a lot of stimulation, which strengthens children’s learning:
1) Interaction with People Improves the Learning Process
In general, it is a fact, that the learning process enhances, when a child interacts with other people. This social element is supported by Qecho. In fact our experience is, that children play with Qecho both alone and together with a playmate, for example a friend, sibling, parent or grandparents. It is fascinating to observe, that once the child “masters” in repeating after Qecho, for example a Sura or any children’s song in Urdu, the child wants to share this success with others, and may even pass it on to, for example, his siblings. This is a natual behavior, when you experience a positive outcome, and it will build the child’s confidence too.
2) Song and Rhythm Stimulates Learning
When the child listens to children’s songs, it feels like dancing and singing along, and at the same time the child’s language develops. It is scientifically proven that music stimulates language learning, as the creative part of the brain, that music appeals to, works faster than the other part of the brain (logical thinking). Therefore, song and rhythm have a positive effect, which makes it easier to remember the words, but it is also easier to pronounce the words, because the child thinks, he is just making “sounds”.
3) Having Fun and “Moving Around” Boosts Learning
The fact that a child can play with Qecho almost anywhere and without having to sit still on a chair – has a very positive effect. Movement effects the blood circulation, and getting fresh blood and oxygen to the brain, sharpens the brain’s ability to remember and store, and therefore strengthens the learning. Research shows that the brain remembers even better, when body and senses are activated. For example, when a child says a certain word or phrase, while activating the body with gestures or movement, it strengthens learning, as opposed to sedentary learning for a long time, which can impair or slow down the learning process for a child.
